The Environmental Information Regulations provide members of the public with the right to access environmental information held by public authorities in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
The Environmental Information Regulations applies to public authorities and companies that are wholly owned by public authorities. When they respond to requests, they have to follow a number of set procedures.
The ICO publishes detailed guidance notes that provide organisations and individuals with all the information they need to know about the Environmental Information Regulations.
