The ICO carries out a targeted self assessment programme aimed at promoting good personal data protection practice within sectors where there are lots of small organisations. Currently the aim of the programme is to raise awareness of data protection in schools and to better understand the practicalities of complying with data protection requirements.
Working with a sponsor organisation, usually the local council or education authority, we contact schools and ask them to fill out a questionnaire. We then use the results of the questionnaire to write a short report indicating areas of improvement and areas of good practice identified in the participating schools.
We will add details of the self assessment programme by sponsor organisation below. They will include a copy of the report where the sponsor has given consent. We will keep this information on our website for one year.
