ACCESS AWARE toolkit – ready for you to download and use within your organisation.
The right to access personal data, commonly referred to as subject access, is created by section 7 of the Data Protection Act and is most often used by individuals who want to see a copy of the information an organisation holds about them.
Recognising a request for personal information is relevant to, and the responsibility of, everyone in your organisation. It is in all of our interests to recognise requests for personal information from our customers and colleagues, and handle them appropriately.
The ACCESS AWARE campaign has been designed to remind staff to be ‘access aware’ – acting as an easy to understand expression of the right to access personal information - helping prompt colleagues to recognise a request for personal information, and know how to deal with it.

Download, print and display our posters and checklist around your own office.
Each poster can be used on its own, or in conjunction with others, and all feature a self-complete mechanism to allow you to add the contact details of the person in your organisation responsible for responding to subject access requests – ensuring colleagues know what to do with a request once they have received one.
New material will be uploaded to our website at regular intervals, if you would like to be notified when this is available, please email us.
