Statement: 7 July 2011

Information Commissioner, Christopher Graham, said:

“The ICO has long pushed for greater openness and transparency. We’ve been engaging with government on its transparency and accountability agenda in a range of areas from salaries disclosure to crime mapping. Freedom of Information publication schemes provide a vehicle for delivering a lot more.

“I look forward to working closely with the government on the next phase of its transparency agenda, always striving to ensure that the right balance is struck between the right to know and the right to privacy.”
