The ICO is an independent public body and the Ministry of Justice is the ICO’s sponsoring department within Government.
Framework Agreement
Our Framework Agreement sets out the respective responsibilities of the Ministry of Justice and the Information Commissioner to support the work of both organisations and to help ensure the Commissioner’s independence. It is effective from 15 September 2011.
The agreement also ensures that appropriate reporting arrangements are in place to enable the Ministry of Justice to maintain and ensure the proper expenditure of public money allocated to the ICO.
